For the PlayVS Cup, new formats will be used for each title’s matches during the single elimination tournament. While a portion of these are the same as the formats found within rulebooks, there may be slight adjustments for PlayVS Cup specifically.

The game formats found within this article supersede the information inside the individual game title rulebooks. All other game title rules found within each rulebook still apply during the PlayVS Cup tournament.

Roster Locks

On Wednesday May 18, 2022 at 11:59 PM PST, all rosters will lock. Once rosters are locked, coaches will not be able to add any new players to their active roster or bench.

Please ensure all players and backups are correctly added to your team’s roster before the lock. If you are having any problems updating your roster, please reach out to support@playvs.com.

Broadcast Information

On Saturday May 28, 2022. the following titles’ finals will be broadcasted on the official PlayVS Twitch Channel.

  • Madden 22 Finals - 10:00 AM PST

  • League of Legends Finals - 12:00 PM PST

  • Rocket League Finals - 1:00 PM PST

  • Overwatch Youth Program* Finals - 4:00 PM PST


High School Esports Titles

League of Legends

Matches between each team will be played in a Best of Three(Bo3) format. Winners of each match will advance to the next portion of the bracket. Lobby codes will be provided through the PlayVS platform as normal and all results recorded through the API. Higher seed gets first choice of side selection for game 1 and 3, if needed.

Rocket League

Matches between each team will be played in a Best-of-Seven(Bo7) format. Winners of each match will advance to the next portion of the bracket.

Lobby Setup

The home team coach will designate a captain who will be in charge of creating the lobby and setting up the match using the requirements found on the Rocket League Game Day Protocol. All match requirements found there should be considered a part of the Rocket League (High School) rulebook.

Protocol settings:

  • Game Mode: Soccar

  • Arena: DFH Stadium

  • Team Size: 3v3

  • Bot Difficulty: No Bots

  • Region: Recommended

  • Joinable By: Name/Password

  • Team Settings: (No Change)

  • Mutator Settings: (No Change)

Madden 22

Each match throughout the bracket and for finals will be a Best of Three (Bo3). The team to win two matches will be declared the winner.

  • Format: Best of Three (Bo3)

  • Settings

    • Fatigue: On

    • Injuries: Off

    • Even Teams: On

    • Quarter Length: 5 mins

    • Game Skill: All-Madden

    • Accelerated Clock: 20 secs.

    • Weather: Off (Clear)

  • Game Options: Players may adjust the below Gameplay Helpers in the Madden 22’s main Game Options menu.

  • Auto Flip Defensive Play Call: On (Default)

  • Defensive Ball Hawk: On (Default)

  • Defensive Heat Seeker Assist: On (Default)

  • Defensive Switch Assist: On (Default)

  • Coach Mode: Off (Default)

FIFA 21 (Fall Winners Only)

Each match throughout the bracket and for finals will be a Best of Three (Bo3). The team to win two matches will be declared the winner.

    • Controls = Any

    • Game Speed = Normal

    • Squad Type = 90 Overall

SMITE (Fall Winners Only)

Matches between each team will be played in a Best of Three(Bo3) round robin format.

Game Lobby Creation

Matches will be in Conquest Mode. In order to start the match correctly, all players (including any substitutes that are playing for the day) must be correctly presented on the starting roster at the scheduled time of match. Starters must have correct in-game names connected to the PlayVS player account.

Match Creation

The home team will be required to create their own custom lobby and invite all players with the following game settings in place.

  • Match Type : Conquest

  • Team Size: 5v5

  • Player Pick: Draft - Conquest

  • Starting Level: Level 1

  • Starting Gold: 1500

  • Pause Type: Normal

  • Bonus Time: 30

  • Spawn Lane Minions: On

  • Region: North America

  • Allow Spectators/Record Demo: On

  • Low-Delay Spectate Mode: Off

  • Bans: 4 Per Team (8 Total)

Youth Program* Esport Title

Overwatch*

All Overwatch games will be played on the Live service version of the title currently released at the time of matches. Matches between each team will be played in a Best of Five(Bo5) format. Winners of each match will advance to the next portion of the bracket

Game Mode Selection

Each match will follow the Game Mode order listed below with the map pool selection listed besides it. Teams MUST follow the Game Mode order, if an incorrect Game Mode is selected for a game, the game must be restarted before a “Game of Record” has been established as per section 1.3 of the Overwatch Youth rulebook. Failure to restart the game with the proper game mode may result in action being taken against the host’s team by League officials.
