Important Dates & Alternative Schedules

PlayVS is moving on to the current console generation for the Scholastic 2024-2025 year! Starting with the Fall ‘24 season, console competition will occur on either the Nintendo Switch system for our Nintendo game leagues or the PlayStation 5 unless cross-play competition is possible within an individual title.

More information on cross-play capabilities will be shared in each title’s respective rulebook, and PlayVS will communicate via Coach Notes once the final rules are available for each title.

Important Dates

  • Fall ‘24 Enrollment Opens: 3/4/2024

  • Enrollment Closes: 9/20/24 at 11:59 PM local league time

  • Preseason: Weeks of 9/9/24 & 9/16/24

  • Regular Season: Weeks of 9/23/24 - 11/11/2024

  • Playoffs: Weeks of 11/18/24 - 12/6/2024

  • Fall Championships: Weeks of 12/9/24 & 12/16/24

Alternative Schedules & Times

  • Alternative Schedules: The following State Associations will have unique schedules for their State Leagues this upcoming season:

    • No alternative schedules currently

  • Alternative Times: Some State Leagues follow different start times. Please scroll down to your specific state schedule to find all important dates for your state leagues.

  • Updates: Please check back for changes as new information will be added throughout the season. Season timelines may change for certain esport titles based on any game launches or patch updates.

Match Times

4:00 PM League Time

  • Mondays: Practice Day!

    • The Global Practice Day Scrimmage Queue is open
      for all titles on Mondays from 12-7 PM PST.

    • Coaches and players will receive in-app notifications. Coaches will be able to join the practice queue.

  • Tuesdays: League of Legends, Splatoon™ 3,

  • Wednesdays: Super Smash Bros.™ Ultimate, NBA 2K*

  • Thursdays: Rocket League, Madden NFL*, Mario Kart™ 8 Deluxe, Hearthstone

*Title & Cross-Play Availability: Titles that are updated on a yearly cadence are subject to unique schedules and rulebook changes until the upcoming release date is confirmed by our partners. Esports programs should not purchase these titles until the version used for PlayVS competitions has been confirmed.

Exceptions

Please see the below exceptions for league match times listed below:

  • CIAC - 3:30 PM

  • MSAA - 3:30 PM

  • Texas Region - 4:30 PM

  • California Region - 4:30 PM

  • TCSAAL - 4:30 PM

  • KHSAA - 4:00 PM CST / 5:00 PM EST

Important: Times may differ between different leagues and do not necessarily correspond with playoffs. Match time will be listed on your league’s page after logging in. Please confirm your school's match time if your state/regional league has multiple time zones.

Fall ‘24 Schedule

All schools will play a total of 7 matches over 8 weeks. Schools will select 1 week as part of their Break Week Inclusion. There will be no matches scheduled for the school’s selected break week across all enrolled esport titles.

Important:

  • Any team that forfeits three (3) or more regular season matches will not be eligible for Playoffs or Championships.

  • Playoff Start dates & times may vary per league based on factors like bracket size, state league accommodations, broadcast accommodations, or game launch accommodations.

  • More specific playoff information will be found in PlayVS on your schedule page midway through the Regular Season.

  • Due to the length of period for playoffs to take place before finals, Playoff matches will occur on different days of the week than the regular season.

  • Winning teams may also be required to play multiple times in a week as they progress through the Playoffs.
