The Play Versus, Inc. (“PlayVS”) Scholarship Program (the “Scholarship”) is offered based on the following official scholarship rules:

Available Scholarships. PlayVS is awarding a five hundred dollar ($500.00) college scholarship to be used towards tuition costs by the student.

Eligibility. The eligibility requirements for the Scholarship are as follows:

  • This award is open to students who are actively involved in a high school esports program enrolled in a PlayVS league.

  • Must be enrolled in a high school at time of application and through the Fall 2024 semester or later

  • Located within the United States (or its territories) or eligible Canadian provinces.

  • Must be a United States citizen or legal resident of the United States, or citizen/legal resident of eligible Canadian provinces.

  • Employees of PlayVS, its affiliates, and any other party involved in administering the Scholarship program, as well as their immediate family members or household members, are not eligible.

Application Deadlines. Applications must be received by 11:59 PM PST on March 24, 2024. Applications received after the deadline will be automatically rejected.

How to Enter. No purchase or payment is necessary to apply for the Scholarship. Applicants agree to be bound by these Official Scholarship Rules. Applications must be submitted online through this application form. Applicants will be required to participate online with PlayVS for the remainder of the 2024 calendar year, specifically until December 31, 2024.

PlayVS reserves the right to disqualify any applications for any reason, including, but not limited to, failure to participate for the specified period, inaccuracy, incompleteness, or because PlayVS believes in good faith an application was generated by automated means or plagiarized. Applications generated by automated means (scripts, macros, etc.) are void.

Use of Student Information: All information collected as a part of the Scholarship program will be used only for the purposes of determining the award. PlayVS will not distribute or sell any information submitted as a part of the application process to any third-parties to use for their own purposes, including advertising. PlayVS will not use, publicly display, distribute, publish, create derivatives of, use in promotional materials, and copy your application and responses without an applicant’s written consent. PlayVS may, with written consent, use a Scholarship winner’s name, photograph, voice, likeness, image, biographical information and statements, for its own promotional purposes.

Selection of Recipients. Completed scholarship applications will be reviewed by representatives of PlayVS to determine the winner of each Scholarship, in PlayVS’ sole discretion. All decisions are final. Applications will be judged based on the following criteria:

  1. PlayVS seeks to create a student advisory board that is representative of the larger esport player community which may include any of the following: age, geographic location, gender, ethnicity, game title participation, and role within their teams (captain, player, sub, student manager, shoutcaster, social media manager, etc).

  2. Passion for esports and demonstrated commitment to their school’s esports program.

  3. Ability to provide constructive feedback and ideas to PlayVS staff

  4. Willingness to learn, receive feedback and collaborate with PlayVS staff

  5. Desire and curiosity to improve the PlayVS platform, including new features

  6. Punctuality and ability to remain focussed during monthly meetings with PlayVS

  7. Available for 1-2 hours a month, including at least one, 1-hour remote (Google Meet) video meetings with PlayVS staff for the remainder of the 2024 calendar year, with flexibility during summer and holiday months.

PlayVS reserves the right not to award a Scholarship if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive any qualified applications.

Winner Notification: Scholarship recipients will be notified via the contact information provided to PlayVS during the application process. Scholarship recipients are subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Scholarship Rules.

Award Payment: Scholarship America will issue a check to the scholarship recipient made payable to the college or university after receiving proof of identity and enrollment. The payment will be for the period following the award. No Scholarship money will be paid directly to winners. Scholarships may not be assigned or transferred to other individuals. No cash equivalent prize will be awarded. The awarding of any Scholarship is contingent upon full compliance with these Official Scholarship Rules. Scholarships must be used within 5 years of recipients' high school graduation date or will be forfeited. The Scholarship winner is solely responsible for any state or federal tax liability in connection with acceptance of the scholarship award.

Alternate Winners: In the following circumstances, the Scholarship award will be forfeited and will be awarded to an alternate recipient, in PlayVS sole discretion: (a) an award notification is returned as undeliverable; (b) a potential winner does not supply adequate proof of identity or enrollment within the time specified; (c) a potential winner is found to have violated these Official Scholarship Rules or otherwise does not meet the Scholarship eligibility requirements.

General Terms: Scholarship applicants and recipients, by submission of their application or acceptance of their prize, agree to release PlayVS, including its employees and representatives, from any and all liability, loss, or claim arising out of participation in the Scholarship program or the award of or the use of prizes. PlayVS is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Scholarship, or in the announcement of the prizes. PlayVS is not responsible for technical, hardware, software or telephone failures of any kind; lost or unavailable network connections; fraud by a third party; or incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions; whether caused by PlayVS, users or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of submissions that may damage an applicant’s system or limit an applicant’s ability to participate in this Scholarship. PlayVS may disqualify any person who engages in or attempts any activity that interferes with the Scholarship program, including the introduction of malware or unauthorized access. PlayVS reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, suspend, or terminate this Scholarship Program at any time, with or without notice.

Void outside of the United States, where prohibited by law, or where bonding, registration, or other requirements would be required but have not been met. If any provision of the terms and conditions of this Scholarship are held void, voidable, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
