Modifying Published Content

How Instructors and Administrators can make updates to existing lessons in Blueprint.

Updated this week

Instructors and Administrators have the ability to create modifications to existing lessons in Blueprint. This allows instructors to customize lessons and activities based on their teaching style, or on students needs and interests.

Any edits that are added and saved to a lesson will be saved as a copy of that lesson and will not affect the original lesson. The new custom lesson will appear next to the original lesson in the course after saving.

Creating a Custom Lesson

To modify published content:

  1. Navigate to a lesson, either from the library or by clicking on the lesson title from a classroom’s schedule.

  2. In the top right, at the top of the activity list, click Edit Lesson.

On the Edit Lesson page, a few features Instructors can utilize include:

Lesson Features

Description

Update Base Lesson

  • Saves changes to the custom lesson without creating a new copy.

  • Option is important when updating a custom lesson after it was initially created.

Select Sites to Save

  • Instructors who belong to multiple sites can choose where they want to save their custom lesson.

Once all desired edits have been made and sites selected, click the Save Custom Lesson button. A popup window will be presented. More details can be found below.

Swapping with Scheduled Content

Blueprint allows the ability to swap an edited custom lesson with its original in any class in which it is already scheduled. That way, students can immediately see any edited versions or continue seeing the original version.

To swap a custom lesson with scheduled content:

  1. Click Save Custom Lesson at the top right corner of the lesson editor.

  2. In the new popup window, any classrooms in which the original lesson was scheduled will be listed.

    • To swap the new custom lesson in place of the original in the schedule, check the box next to that classroom’s name.

    • To not swap any lessons into one’s schedules, do not check any of the boxes.

  3. Click Confirm to save the custom lesson.

Editing Custom Content

To modify a lesson created in a custom course:

  1. Click Library from the left-hand side navigation, and click on a course that you have created.

  2. From the course overview, click the Settings button, then from the drop down menu, click Edit.

  3. To edit a single lesson, click the +Plan Lesson button on the listed lesson.

  4. After making the desired changes, click Save Changes in the upper right corner.

  5. Click Save Course from the course editor to save all changes. A checkmark will appear in the button when the save has finished.
