Blueprint to Clever Connection

Adding Blueprint to your district’s Clever applications.

Updated over a week ago

Overview

This article goes over how district administrators can add Blueprint to their district’s Clever Portal in order to share Blueprint with instructors in the district.

Accepting an invite from Blueprint

A PlayVS admin may opt to send you an invite to connect via Clever. To accept the invitation:

  1. Go to your Clever Dashboard > Applications > My Applications

  2. Click View Invite next to Blueprint (PlayVS, formerly Generation Esports)

  3. Click Accept

After accepting the invitation, you will need to set application sharing permissions.

Adding Blueprint to Clever

  1. Go to your Clever Dashboard > Applications > Add Applications

  2. Search for Blueprint using the filters and search bar at the top of the page.

  3. Locate Blueprint (PlayVS, formerly Generation Esports) and click Request App.

  4. Select the option showing your district has already purchased the application.

  5. Select a Launch Date

    1. The Launch Date is the date Blueprint will be available to all shared district users in their Clever portals.

  6. Click Send integration request.

Your application’s status can be viewed on your Clever Dashboard overview page.

Application sharing permissions

Once a PlayVS administrator approves your district’s connection request, you will need to specify which data you would like to share with Blueprint, and which users should have access to Blueprint from their Clever Portals.

Blueprint will not have access to any district data in Clever that has not been specifically shared via the application sharing permissions.

Sharing permissions for Blueprint

  1. Go to your Clever Dashboard > Home page.

  2. Locate Blueprint (PlayVS, formerly Generation Esports).

  3. Select Share data now.

Designating access

PlayVS recommends designating access to:

  • All teachers based on their school

  • All sections (or classes) which will use Gaming Concepts based on their course number

  • Course codes

This allows for Blueprint to automatically show existing classrooms with students from your designated schools. It also allows designated users to log in to Blueprint via Clever single sign-on (SSO) if your district already has Clever SSO enabled. More information on how to do so can be found in Clever’s SSO article.

After clicking Share data now from My applications, you will be directed through Clever’s Guided Sharing process:

  1. In Choose sharing method, select Create new sharing settings specific to Blueprint (PlayVS, formerly Generation Esports).

    1. Select Specific sections, teachers, students, and/or staff.

    2. Click Next on the bottom right.

  2. In Choose who needs access, click Add rule.

    1. Select Specific teachers need access.

    2. Under Property select School.

    3. Under Value, select each applicable school.

    4. Under ALSO SHARE, select no teacher sections.

    5. Once done, click Save Rule.

  3. Click Yes: add another rule.

    1. Select Sections, and their associated teachers and students, need access.

    2. Under Property select Course number.

    3. Under Value, select each applicable course number.

    4. Once done, click Save Rule.

  4. Click No, I’m done, then Next.

  5. If the data looks correct in Preview & share user data, click Share with application.

  6. After data is validated in Data validation, click Next to finalize setup.

Instructor access to Blueprint

After completing the sharing permissions guide in Clever, instructors can log in to Blueprint to view their site and classroom(s).

Instructors should log in to Blueprint using their existing Clever account via Clever single sign-on (SSO).

If application sharing permissions were done properly, instructors will be able to see existing classrooms in Blueprint with existing students listed in each. They’ll then be able to send invite links to students. Instructions for how to send invites can be found in Creating New Sites and Classrooms.

Students should log in to Blueprint using their existing Clever account via Clever single sign-on (SSO). Instructors will not see students in their classroom until the students have signed in using Clever SSO for the first time.
