Navigating a Classroom

How to navigate to the various pages and features within a classroom.

Classroom Features

To browse classrooms:

  • Click Classroom in the left-hand side navigation.

  • Select the classroom you wish to view.

    • Instructors and Site Administrators can also create new classrooms from this page.

Schedule

This will be the most common space for students to visit, as it houses current and upcoming lessons and activities. Navigate the Week and Month buttons to change the calendar view.

Instructors and Site Administrators can see and do a few more things on this page. They include:

  • Editing the classroom settings by clicking Settings in the upper right portion of the page.

  • Editing the upcoming schedule by clicking Edit Schedule.

Announcements

All members of the classroom can see posted announcements in this tab. Actions available can vary based on one’s role. They include the following:

  • View announcements

  • Like announcements

Instructors and Site Administrators

  • Create new announcements with the rich text editor

Clicking Create Announcement will post the announcement for the students to see and immediately send a notification to everyone in the course. These notifications can be viewed at the bottom of the left-hand side of the screen.

Students

Only Instructors and Site Administrators can see this tab. From here, students can be added or removed from the classroom. Instructors and Site Administrators can also see when students last logged in and their recent missed assignments.

Grades

All members of the classroom can access this tab. The roles and access include:

  • View their own gradebook

  • View their grades

Instructor and Site Administrator

  • View all student submissions

  • View student grades

  • Adjust grade and assignment properties

Instructors and Site Administrators can adjust student grade values such as “Excused” or “Late” by clicking Go to Gradebook.
