Spring 2027 PlayVS Regional League Updates FAQ

Everything you need to know about competition starting in 2027

PlayVS Leagues

Q: Why is PlayVS moving to a shared-cost model?

A: As participation grows, we are investing in our platform, league operations, and our team that supports schools every day to ensure high-quality, safe, and reliable experiences. To support this continued investment and create a more sustainable long-term model, we are introducing a shared-cost model that enables continued investment in high-quality programs.

Q: Will there still be free-to-play options?

A: Yes. We are committed to providing accessible esports experiences for all schools, regardless of budget. The Spring ‘27 season will include scrimmage, no-cost tournaments, challenges, and other free-to-play features we continue to develop. We will be announcing more about the free offerings in the Fall.

Q: What does paid access to competitive PlayVS Leagues include?

A: We take great pride in delivering a high-quality, comprehensive league experience and continue to invest significantly in strengthening our network.

Our competitive offering is designed for schools that view esports as a meaningful extension of their academic and extracurricular programs. This membership supports the infrastructure, services, and national ecosystem required to deliver a consistent, school-aligned experience.

Benefits Include:

  • Unlimited esports competition, with the ability to field multiple teams across titles

  • Robust compliance and safety standards, including secure rostering, verification, and age-appropriate protections.

  • Live league support, with real-time access to league officials during competition

  • Comprehensive game title offerings aligned with student interest and engagement.

  • Enhanced competitive infrastructure, including flexible scheduling, scrimmage tools, and playoff experiences.

  • School-wide access to PlayVS Recruit, connecting students to college programs and scholarship opportunities

  • A national pathway to the PlayVS Cup, including eligibility for championships and school recognition.

Q: When will teams gain access to Competitive Leagues?

A: For Fall ‘26, everyone will have access to competitive PlayVS Leagues. When Spring ‘27 enrollment opens, there will be no restrictions on the product until the 3rd week of the season, at which point PlayVS Leagues will require payment.

Q: What if the state association blocks specific titles and a school wants to pay for access in a competitive PlayVS League?

A: Schools will have access to the PlayVS Regional titles authorized by the state partner association, as has been the case in previous seasons.

Q: Will there be an impact on the 2027 PlayVS Cup qualification and prizing?

A: More information on the 2027 PlayVS Cup will be shared during the upcoming school year.

Billing

Q: When is payment made?

A: Payment can be made once Spring enrollment opens through the 3rd week of the Spring ‘27 season

Q: How does billing work?

A: Once Spring ‘27 enrollment opens, schools will have three options: pay by credit card, create an invoice, or request assistance. Anyone who requests an invoice will be able to sign an agreement and fully compete in PlayVS Leagues. Additionally, those who fill out a request for assistance and are approved will also be able to fully compete.

Q: Are any discounts available?

A: Yes! We will be offering a $100 discount for all schools that pay before November 30th, 2026.

Q: Do you expect prices to remain consistent, or will they change due to Title interest/School Interest/changes to the economy?

A: We will announce pricing for the 2027–2028 school year in Spring 2027. We are committed to keeping pricing as accessible and economical as possible while continuing to deliver a high-quality experience.

Q: If a school unenrolls or drops out, will it get a refund for paid competition in PlayVS Leagues?

A: If the school unenrolls from all leagues before the 3rd week of competition, a credit will be applied toward future competition.

Q: What if a player is suspended, drops out, or a team is suspended/banned?

A: Payment is for a school to access the PlayVS League. Individuals and teams may be banned from competing while the school is still able to compete using other students and teams.

Q: Can we get a formal quote or invoice to present to our administration?

A: Yes. You can request a formal quote today by reaching out to sales@playvs.com. Quotes will also be available in the product when Spring ‘27 enrollment opens.

Q: Do you offer needs-based grants?

A: We are committed to ensuring accessibility for all schools and this fall, we will be announcing details on financial assistance opportunities for certain classifications of schools participating in our competitive leagues.

Q: If the same program runs both the middle and high school teams, will they have to pay both membership fees?

A: This fall, we will announce preferred combined pricing for programs that operate both middle and high school teams. Please reach out to sales@playvs.com for MS/HS combined pricing.

League Operations

Q: Are there any differences between HS/MS paid leagues? If paid MS, do they now receive competitive leagues similar to HS?

A: Starting in Spring 2027, Middle School will have paid competitive leagues options available to enroll into. Paid competitive leagues will have a normal preseason, regular season, playoffs and finals. The only differences for paid leagues between HS and MS will be which titles are offered for that competition group. We will announce which titles will be available for both High School and Middle School for Spring 2027 when we open enrollment for that season at a later date!
