Updated over a week ago

VALORANT is a team-based, multiplayer, first-person action game developed and published by Riot Games. VALORANT is rated T for Teen.

What's the game objective of VALORANT?

The game's primary objective is to engage in matches between two teams, each consisting of five players. A team wins the match after successfully winning a combined total of at least 13 rounds as either the Attackers or Defenders.

The main game mode involves the attackers trying to plant a device called the Spike at designated bomb sites, labeled A and B, while the defenders try to prevent the attackers from successfully planting the Spike or defuse it if it has been planted. Some maps have a third site called C. The attackers win the round if they successfully plant and detonate the Spike, or if they eliminate all the defenders. On the other hand, the defenders win by either preventing the Spike from being planted within a given time or by defusing the Spike after it has been planted.

  • “Attackers” win by either eliminating all defenders, or successfully planting the spike and guarding it for 45 seconds.

  • “Defenders” win by either eliminating all attackers or removing the spike after being planted.

Which agents can I choose from?

At the beginning of each season, players select from a pool of up to 23 different agents. Agents can be unlocked by VALORANT team experience or with an Xbox PC Game Pass. Map and agent pools are set at the start of each season. Check out the agents here!

What is the match format?

Teams will compete in a Best of 3 games (also known as maps) match format. The first team to reach 13 round wins, or win in overtime, will win the map. The first team to 2 map wins will be awarded the win for the match. Each game lasts about 40 minutes on average.

How do I download VALORANT?

Riot Vanguard is Riot Games’ custom in-house game security software designed to upload competitive integrity when playing VALORANT. This software is required to access VALORANT, and schools must ensure their PCs are set up correctly before their first match. If a school computer is blocked by Riot Vanguard, an IT Administrator will be needed to access and edit the computer’s BIOS settings to enable TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, IOMMU, HVCI/VBS, and switch to UEFI mode.

  1. Check your IT Specifications.

    • Before you begin, check to make sure your computer has enough storage to complete the installer. VALORANT requires about 32 GB of internal memory.

  2. Go to VALORANT's site, playvalorant.com.

  3. To download the game, create a Riot account first.

  4. Once you create a Riot account, log in and click Play Free.

  5. On the next screen under “Download the Game”, click Download.

    • The download begins automatically. Check your downloads folder for a new file called “Install VALORANT” and double click to Install.

    • A new popup requesting you to allow the download will appear. Follow the prompts to begin playing. Ask your coach or administrator if you need support. For additional questions, please reach out to support@playvs.com.
