Chess Solos Match Instructions

All the steps needed to complete a PlayVS Chess Solos Match!

Overview

    • Season Format: Best-of-3 (Bo3) Games

  1. Join the lobby and Ready Up within the 30-minute grace period.

  2. Communicate via Match Lobby Chat.

  3. Home Teams will create private matches and send invitations.

  4. As there is no advantage granted through this process, coaches may spectate a game without following the protocols referenced in section 7.7 Match Spectating from the league’s Competition Rulebook.

If there are any issues, finish the current game, then notify PlayVS Support for further assistance.

Setting Up the Match

If the lobby is already created and shared in Lobby Chat, continue to Match Protocol (All Players).

Create the Custom Game (Home Team)

  1. Home team players must open a browser and log in to Chess.com.

  2. Click Play, then Play a Friend.

  3. Search for and select the opponent’s username.

  4. Set up the game with the following settings:

    • Mode: 10-minute rapid

    • Settings:

      • Standard

      • 10 min

      • White/Black/Random (Varies by game)

  5. Side Selection:

    • Game 1: The home team will be white.

    • Game 2: The away team will be white.

    • Game 3: Teams will be randomly assigned white/black.

    • Tiebreaker rounds: Teams will be randomly assigned white/black.

    • If a tiebreaker game is being played, a 5-minute Blitz match will be selected.

  6. Click Play to send the Game Invite.

Join the Custom Game (Away Team)

  1. Open a browser and log in to Chess.com.

  2. Click the Green Check mark to accept the Game Invite.


Match Protocol (All Players)

  1. Player assigned to white will make their opening move to establish a game of record (GOR).

  2. Play out the individual game.

    • If needed, complete a Tiebreaker game to determine the overall Game Winner.

  3. Record results.

  4. Repeat until a player reaches 2 overall game wins.


Post-Match Process

  • After both teams agree to the final game's result using the PlayVS Match Assistant, the match will be complete, and results will be recorded.

  • Take in-game screenshots at the end of each game for your records.

  • If the Match Assistant is skipped, coaches are responsible for verifying the results have been reported manually.

  • Matches without results will be quarantined and risk a match loss for both teams by default.

If the results are inaccurate, contact PlayVS Support for further assistance.

By default, rulebooks overrule match instructions. Please reach out to PlayVS Support if you find conflicting information.
