The Pokémon UNITE Instructions for Scholastic Leagues

Overview

  1. Review the Pokémon UNITE Rulebook.

    • Season Format: Best-of-Three (Bo3) games

    • Playoffs Format: Best-of-Five (Bo5) games

  2. Join the lobby and Ready Up within the 30-minute grace period.

  3. Communicate via Match Lobby Chat.

  4. Home teams will create private matches and send invitations.

  5. Spectators are approved using Match Lobby Chat per Section 7.7 Match Spectating of the league’s Competition Rulebook.

  6. If there are any issues during the match, finish the current game, then notify PlayVS Support.

Setting Up the Match

Create the Custom Game (Home Team)

  1. Open Pokémon UNITE

  2. Select the Tournament Icon (above the Events icon)

  3. Select Theia Sky Ruins (Draft Pick) and enable the following custom rules:

    • All held items at max grade

    • All held items unlocked

    • All UNITE licenses unlocked

    • All battle items unlocked

    • Server selection set to Auto, unless otherwise approved by League Officials

  4. Assign players to the correct team

  5. Share the Lobby ID with all players in Match Lobby Chat

Join the Custom Game (Away Team)

  1. Open Pokémon UNITE

  2. From the Pokémon UNITE Menu, select Lobby Search

  3. Input Lobby ID shared by the home team and join

  4. Verify the custom rules and map are correct

Draft Process

  • Theia Sky Ruins (Draft Pick) map will enable the pick-ban process as follows:

    • Top teams votes to ban a Pokémon

    • Bottom teams votes to ban a Pokémon

    • Top teams votes to ban a Pokémon

    • Bottom teams votes to ban a Pokémon

  • Teams can choose not to ban Pokémon


Match Protocol (All Players)

  1. With both teams ready, the match can begin!

  2. Once the game is complete, both teams will report the result using the Match Assistant.

  3. Select Battle Again or Repeat Custom Game Creation and join steps.

  4. Repeat the previous protocol steps until the match is complete.


Post-Match Process

  • After both teams agree to the final game's result using the PlayVS Match Assistant, the match will be complete, and the results will be recorded.

  • Take in-game screenshots at the end of each game for your records.

  • If the Match Assistant is skipped, coaches are responsible for verifying their results have been reported manually

  • Matches without results will be quarantined and risk a match loss for both teams by default.

  • If the results are inaccurate, contact PlayVS Support for further assistance.

By default, rulebooks overrule match instructions. Please reach out to PlayVS Support if you find conflicting information.
